Death Reigns is directed by Tennessee filmmaker Randall Kendrick, known for The Steel Garden. This documentary captures the story of Raven Moonla and Zach Moonshine, radio hosts and promoters who dared to organize an underground metal festival in a deeply religious region. Their efforts sparked outrage from local religious and political groups but also united those who felt alienated by the Bible Belt's restrictive culture.
The film follows the trials and triumphs of the Metal Devastation Festival, shining a light on the resilience of the organizers and attendees. Through their perseverance, the festival has become a symbol of defiance and freedom in the face of cultural opposition.
Filming will continue at the 2024 Metal Devastation Music Festival, set to take place on October 5th in Jackson, Tennessee. Metal fans are encouraged to attend and become part of the crowd featured in this exciting documentary.
